Work shop week 26 - 30 september

The week of the workshop is finished and although there were useful things i learned from it, it did prevent me from doing work i had intended doing on media project. Anyhow here are some things I found interesting from the first talk on Monday:

The Highline In New york. This was cool because it was an unused railway track and they turned it into a kind of garden, its beautiful in contrast with its surroundings. It was a great way to make use of the space.The Hand From Above.
Interactive Architecture.

I also learned more about Arduino that may come in handy for media project, what you need for it and resources. I found these mentioned projects interesting, the hanging garden project and high speed photography. I love the hanging garden project I suppose it appealed to me because i have a huge interest in nature. The hanging garden project is a way of using sensors to let you know when to water your plants by turning on little lights, it also just looks lovely.

I learned about Processing, a software which is completely new to me. I saw how it can be used for motion sensing and other cool things so I downloaded it myself and I would also consider looking into this technology for media project. Another thing I learned about was QR codes which I think have a lot of potential for use in media project. Below is a the image I created at the workshop which is the logo of our project idea and an example of a QR code in it which would be used to inform about and promote the project.


Working with teams and people from different disiplines was good experience also, and I made some new friends.

Every Way Out Workshop

For the past week we'd to attend a workshop in Sullivan's Key it was great to be in a group where people were from different backgrounds such as architecture and fine arts. I met a lot of really nice people and working in a group with them was an enjoyable and good learning experience.

However I felt that I fell behind with my other modules including media project as most people there except for our group and one or two more fine art students were 4th years and everyone else was third year students. I felt that we lost out on time with our college course but also did gain good group working experience with the workshop
